I finally got my Nike+ sensor working attached to a Asics shoe with a Grantwood Technology shoe caddy. I ran into two hurdles along the way. The cutsey instructions that came with the unit were of little help with either.

1. The 3 second hold down to initiate the binding between the band and the sensor works just fine but to start the accumulation of data one needs to TAP and let go of the button right away and NOT hold it down for a whole second before letting go.
2. I also learned the hard way how critical it is to make sure the sensor is placed (Apple Nike swoosh) face UP in the shoe caddy and not face down. Face down results in the sensor binding with the strap but no data is gathered. Since the orientation is not visible you have to pay attention when inserting into the shoe caddy.

On the positive side, the units are all working and streaming data. Data is quite accurate. Suggestions for improvement include back light in the band for running in the dark and better placement of the buttons. Suggestion for the Nike+ and RUNNER+ websites - better integration with Google maps and its addons especially the Path Profiler which renders elevation profiles for any path you draw. Would be great to view ones pace against the elevation profile.

Finally thanks to RUNNER+ for a great web site. What a great resource!!!

Yesterday the top faceplate fell of my Nike+ Sportband. I was researching ways to put it back together when I ran across a posting from Nike announcing a voluntary recall of all Nike+ Sportband units...
