Listening to Nigelrunners most recent Running from the Reaper podcast has inspired me to share it's existance with everyone.

I've been listening to podcasts while running for a while now, and Nigel's for the last two or three months and, especially for a British voice amongst the running podcasts, its really good for helping those miles to slip by.

Through this and Steverunner's Phedippidations I've also discovered a new running podcast - The Runner's Round Table - hosted by podcasters with other guests with chat about running, races, podcasting, training and so on.

Just thought I'd share

RicC, agreed. I have been listening to Nigel's podcast for months now - I alternate between his, Steve's and the Dump Runner's Club.

Considering there are so many of us running in the UK, I am surprised there aren't more British podcasts. Ever considered stepping up to the plate? I have thought about it quite seriously, but I have more of an antipodean twang to my accent...

Funny you bring this up now - I just listened to Runner's Round table for the first time yesterday - after finding SteveRunner's site yesterday.

I'll have to check out Nigel's also. He seemed like he would be pretty funny based on the brief snippet I heard of him.

Out of curiousity - and I don't mean to hijack the thread - how many listen to podcasts when they run vs music (or nothing)?

Endurance Planet is also a great podcast. Whether you run marathons or ultras, sprints or ironman, there's something here for everybody.

There are so many GREAT podcasts! If you like the British voice (clearly the way english was meant to be spoken) check out Steve Chopper's "A Mile With Me" podcast!
Others worth a listen in my opion...
4 feet running
running with the pack
confessions of a runner (now there's an accent!)
the extra mile
Dump runners club
Ultra Dad
For some great music for running check out Podrunner and for overall health information listen to Dr Monte's Fitness Rocks.
There's more and Nigel (AKA Slash) has them all listed on RunningPodcasts.org (I think that's it) so check that out for all the latest podcast. Now, What Nigel and Steve Runner would say is find one or seven that you like and then create your own and share! The running community is all about sharing, helping, motivating, and being nice (unless you belong to the Bad Boys of Running, then you can swill beer, swear, take lunch money from small children waiting at the bus stop....) to everyone. So, go forth and listen!!

I'll have to check out some of these podcasts, though, to answer flipya's question, I tend to not listen to either podcasts or music while running. I prefer the "Zen" state and to focus on my body. That said, I might try listening again on my next LSD run, if only to help me slow things down.

Hey, thanks for the mention! If you want lots of running podcasts, check out www.RunningPodcasts.org where I try to list them all.

All the best.

Whatever you do, don't listen to this podcast. Seriously DON'T LISTEN TO THIS PODCAST. Especially don't do it while on LSD, for goodness sakes. What are you thinking? You want to get Zen on your next LSD? That's just crazy. If you start listening to any of these podcasts they will suck you in and steal your identity. Listening to Phedippidations will soon have you using American terms and when you think of Oxford, you'll think of the one near Boston first - heresy! If you start listening to The Extra Mile you'll notice that the same song is played over and over and over and over in the background until you slowly go insane.

The only podcast that can save you is the Bad Boys of Running and you need to be jumped in to make sure that you're really bad enough to handle it. This LSD has nothing to do with slow or distance. The cast isn't out yet because Nigel is too lazy vacuuming with his Dyson but the promos are out. Check it out badboysofrunning.blogspot.com

I screwed up the link.

Listen to Nigel's podcast anyway. He's a Bad Boy Wannabe - but a fine podcaster.

Yay for podcasts! I always listen to podcasts when I run except during races where I prefer to listen to the marshals, bystanders and myself telling myself to keep going. Problem I have is my 60GB ipod is full. I can't get through podcasts quick enough and I keep downloading more...

And now, thanks to John Vaughn, I might have to free up some more space :( Now, what to discard? My favourite Eagles album or the Running From The Reaper back catalogue which I am still working through...

Think I might go buy another ipod instead.
