Hi Im starting the couch to 5k...again. Had to stop for awhile. Its a run/walk program with a podcast and music that gets you running 5k in 9 weeks. It does it gradually so you don't quit. Im happy to be starting again.

Hey

Don't know if this is a stupid question, but where do you get the podcast from?

Apologies - didn't search iTunes enough. I assume you are following the Robert one:

I use a similar program, but in dutch. I really helps to run without the risk of overtraining. I should be able to run 5 km without walking at the end of next week! I'm planning to start the program from 5 km to 10 km in march, so I can run a decent distance by summer.

Sorry haven't checked posts out for awhile. Yes, I'm running the robert ullrey podcast. Just finished week one today. Hopefully, the rain will hold off and I can start week 2.

I completed the c25k program a few months ago, never really ran before that (unless being chased). It's a great program and really helped me to start running =)

i am 52 years old and 155 pounds. i already lost 50 pounds, stopped smoking and excersize regularly. i also try to eat right. my new goal is to lose the last stubborn 10 pounds, and to start running again after 30 years. i tried the couch to 5k program, but just when i was feeling encouraged with the results, my knee got wrenched.

the last couple of weeks i've taken it easy during healing, and walking some slowly. today finally, i got in a 5k walk at my old walking rate of under 16 min per mile.

i want to start the conservative version of the couch to 5k running program. i think running on concrete may have caused my knee injury, so i will try it via treadmill. anyone else out there trying this also?

A lot of people are doing the couch 2 5k program. There was actually a group on runner+ created specifically for the program. You can find it under the 'groups' tab on the top of the page. There is a lot of great information there and I am sure any of you doing it now would love it. Great job to all of you!! It's always motivating to see other people excited about running and being healthy. Amy, I hope your knee is feeling better. I had done the couch 2 5k program last summer and it was great, but then injured my knee playing soccer. I am just now getting back into running so I know how slow it can seem while healing. Just give it time! Good luck on the treadmill too! Be sure to check out the couch 2 5k group here. Good luck!!

thanks so much jacque for your encouragement. i guess i thought with all the walking that i did, that running would just be easy to start. once my knee tolerated exercise i started my own version of couch to 5k (warmup, 1 min run, 2 min walk) on the treadmill. i might take a long time to get to 30 min of straight running, but i will get there.

I didn't use the podcast, but I used a similar program from Runner's World, run/walk. I'm running 5k 3x a week now, often with a 1 minute recovery walk in the middle. Having a blast!
