Sports band is dead....

After taking my second sports band into Nike Town for a replacement today (the display had gone wonky again) I was informed that "we're out of stock and won't get any until next year". I asked if I could delay my replacement until then as I did quite like the sports band and I wouldn't mind waiting until the new stock was in. The manager was summoned and he told me that due to all the of the problems that people had been having with the sports band, Nike were getting a new version made (whether this is version 2.0 or just the same model with the design flaws ironed out, he couldn't tell me) and this would be available "some time in the new year" - he advised me to have a refund as he didn't think the new batch would be coming in any time soon.

I checked the nike website earlier and it seems that the sportsband has been removed from that as well. A real shame as I thought it was potentially a great product, it was just let down by some bad design and manufacture.

Hmmmm i just had a look on the nike website aswell and its not amongst the nike+ stuff anymore,i typed in to the search box and it brought it up but it is unavilable to buy.........
now im a bit concerned as one of my work mates has got one as well as myself a few of the pixels have givin up and he has which looks like what you would get if pressure was applied to the screen on one side,i have had no problems with mine as yet but it does seem a bit off if nike have released a product before full testing has been perfomed,if like you say they are going to bring out a new model then nike should be prepared to give everyone a swap for the second version.

Yeah, it was the pixels bleeding problem which has caused the sportsband to be shelved I think. Hopefully the second version will be early next year, I'm prepared to wait if that's the case. I suppose the other option is to buy an ipod nano which might be considered a waste of money! For the time being I'll go back to using sports tracker on my N95 which is ok but I was never really that impressed with the accuracy of the onboard gps.

I'm actually quite miffed by it all. There's been no mention of this on the nike plus forums by any nike representative, it would have been nice to be informed about the situation.

Hmmm, it still seems to be available to order on the Nike site: www.nike.com/index.jhtml?sitesrc=...id-181290/pid-181290,_grid,f-26005+22004
