It might not be very common but just in case:

The SportBand upload untility will not let you install to any OS other than XP and Vista. My everyday laptop is running the 64bit version of Windows Server 2008 so I thought I was out of luck. But "FraserP" in the Nike+ forums found the answer the old fashioned way: he installed it on a Vista or XP machine and then just copied the Nike+ folder and put it on his Windows Server machine and then put the Nike+ untility into the Startup folder.

I never even thought of it because I was sure their install dropped in Registry entries or registered DLLs and such.

Works great1

I ran into this same problem!

I just extracted the .msi from the installer and modified the requirements to allow Server 2008.

I use 2008 because I'm a software developer and it seems to be so much faster than vista or xp. Why do you use it?

i'm in R&D & testing it for our AD. I don't think i'd bother with it as a home OS though.
