That looks pretty cool. Wouldn't be great to select music, but to fudge with the volume and get feedback it would be awesome.

I wish it could give you stats at a glance rather than a glorified remote.

You would want to see them? I am satisfied with pushing the middle button and hearing them.

For those of you who want to see their stats on the watch, I think Nike is coming out with Speed+, which should let you do that. It's a rumor, but so was the Amp+ back in January.

I haven't tried it out, and I don't plan to, but the Amp+ just doesn't seem like a finished product to me. It's a substandard watch (no lap/split times, doesn't even show the time of day without pressing buttons) and the major feature is the remote control of the iPod, which is hardly useful in my opinion. It seems to me that even if it's a pain, everyone who needs to control their iPods during the run has figured out a way to get it done by now.

I have my doubts about it. When I go running at the moment, I have either a Nike+ shirt with an ipod pocket in it, or an arm bracelet from nike with my ipod in. these pockets are constructed in such a way that you always (at least me) hit the right button when i want to hear my stats or FF to the next song.

What does seem intresting to me is the Nike Speed+ watch on which you can also control your ipod I guess, see your stats in a blink of an eye and possibly use it independently from the ipod, should you forget the nano.

So here's my idea. Nike is creating this thing in order to solve the problem of 2 Ipod Nano generations with different dimensions. this way they can make clothing with a nano pocket that supports the 2 Ipods and for which the controls don't have to be in the shirts/pants/jackets.

The speed+, I would buy on one condition: there has to be a heart rate monitor integrated feature.

Couldn't agree more! We all love our gadgets, but I struggle to see the point of this one, when most of us have found the means of carrying our IPods, and using them perfectly efficiently whilst running.
However, I too would jump at the chance to buy one if it had an integrated HRM -I find it a nuisance to have to put on my HRM chest strap and watch separately every time I go out for a run, and I would really love it if the stats from that were uploaded automatically along with speed, distance and calories.

If rumors are to be believed, the Speed+ will not have a heart rate monitor. If you want HRM and a foot pod, you'll probably have to go with the Garmin Forerunner 50 (also works with bicycling).

They're working on adding Garmin functionality to Runner+, so you'd be able to compete with everyone else here just like with the Nike+.

I just like the music from my nano too much to go to the garmin system
i'd rather run without an HRM then

All nice and well (and no offense) but the Garmin is pretty bad in the songplaying department. So adding HRM by going for Garmin would mean losing my music during workouts. For me that would be a no-go. (hence the reasing i'm using the nike+ system).

So I for one would be one of those who would be very very eager to get HRM support.

So I ran my first run today with the new Amp +. I did not take much time to read the directions (typical) so I was learning on the run so to speak. It really is not meant to be a watch, just a remote which can be used to get the time if need be.

For what it is worth, it functions very well for the intended purpose, and as winter draws near, it is great to have a remote on your wrist to adjust volume, start/stop workouts, and change the current song should you grow tired of it. You can also use it to get feedback on pace, and the time of day should you find that you need to be somewhere.

The feel of the watch is really good, I was afraid it would be too heavy, but it fits nice after adjusting the wrist band (ok this adjustment is a pain, since you have to cut the band and reattach the ends) And I must say it has a very sharp futuristic look to it.

Over all I give this product a 8/10 it does exactly what they advertise, and really the cost seems reasonable (79.99) as an Ipod accessories.

The product works well as advertised. It is a glorified remote, but like pdxman said I am looking forward to winter runs with it. I run a lot in the cold/sleet and it will be nice to have the ipod tucked away without worries. I would love to see what the rumored "speed+" looks like, but my wife will kill me if I get that one too!

I got mine on Monday and posted some pictures and comments - overall it's great for running, but not much of a watch...

Thanks for the review, John. It sounds like an interesting addition to Nike's line, but it's not for me. Like you, I wear a watch to get a quick glance at the time, so having to press a button kind of defeats that purpose.

Now, the Speed+ is a different animal... I'd probably buy that, however I'd miss my tunes.

Either way, the watch still requires an iPod for music, so this just adds yet another device to everyone's RoboCop running outfit.

For those who have a Nike Amp+, how does it attach at the Nano end? Or does it?

Am I the only one who would like to have my running time at a glance without pressing any button? And for what I understand the Amp+ shows only what time is it and not the running time; am I orrect?
