For a podcast, I always like to suggest Podrunner by DJ Steveboy. If you have trouble keeping a steady pace, this will definitely help. It's really just constant beat-per-minute techno, but it's great, especially for those turn-your mind-off-and-run runs.

I use pod runner but it is a pretty intense pace much of the time. I would say that if you are a beginner, do not try to use podrunner as a pace tool. I'm old and slow, 10:00 pace pretty consistently, and I cant match the pace for long. He posts a new podrunner weekly and has all of them available on i-tunes for free. The pace varies from 130ish beats per minute to over 170 bpm so if your in that range and you like the techno beat, have a ball.

I use these all the time, didn't think I would really care for them at first, but they grow on you. I only wish that he would mix more at the high end (180+) and make them longer like the Ground Pounder mix.

I use them all the time as well. had to figure out what the right pace for me was though. Depends on different variables. But I have found my BPM finally and been a fan of DJ Steveboy ever since. Currently training at 160 BPM.

Some are good, some aren't as good, but these are just about what I listen too exclusively. I also like it groove electric mixes.

They make the first hour of a long run go by pretty quickly. I really liked the podcasts with the drill sargeant candences. They were real motivating.

Callit

Thanks for the Podrunner recommendation. I have been enjoying them for the last month or so and I just love have a consistent beat to run to.

Thanks again!

Podrunner recently updated to include an interval set. It seems to be built around the Couch to 5K walk/run system, but more advanced tracks are in store for the future.

as far as soul hip/hop podcasts for free...i'd recommend the stones throw podcast (just search in the itunes store)

it's more on the indie hip hope tip....but still fresh...real hip hop, no commercial bizness...

are these podcasts without lyrics? for some reason i can't stand music without lyrics, especially trance and techno.
