@ James, I am very satisfied with GPS reception the 405 has a fast fix and on a trail run of 6 hours 15 I haven't lost signal. It is way beter than a 305 that one will lose reception several times on the same trail.

@ Jblackwell, It has said end of 3rd quater 2008 and it has said end of 4th quater and now it says end of 1st quater it seem like a windows vista story. I'm still using my wife work laptop to get the data of and I use www.trailrunnerx.com to be able to work with the data on my mac. And no i do not want to run windows!

That is also the most supide about this watch you have to connect it anyway to charge so why not ad that extra pins to download your runs. now you have an easy to lose stick wich you have to take care of.
Why not charge as a electrical toothbrush than you don't have contacts so you can swim also with the watch.
happy running

Calorie computation of Forerunner

Hi

Just got my 405 and love it, no problem with set up and transferring courses etc to it, but....I want to upload a course (no problem with this) and then be able to use the 405's navigation function so that it can point me in the right direction throughout said course (can't find how to do this!)....any help?

I bought my Forerunner 405 9/11/08, registered it with Garmin on 9/14/08 and on 9/20/09, it died. I contacted Garmin and they said "it is not covered by warranty since it is over 12 months since my date of purchase and they want a minimum $99 to repair the watch. Repair? I think they should replace it with a brand new one. Let me see, with a 12 month life expectancy, I've paid over $30 a month for the use of this watch...that is very very expensive and certainly not worth it.

What do you mean it died? After my run yesterday my 405 was showing "low battery" and then it turned off, expected of course. But now it will not charge?!
I've tried the wall outlet and my MAC...any help anyone?

I'm not sure what you mean by start and lap button? I have an enter and quit button and on the barrel I have a time/date, training, menu and GPS? Can you help?

Garmin 405 has just two button on the right: start/stop and lap/reset.
Anyway press these two buttons as you see in the video.

My 405 also did that once: It ran out of battery and then refused to charge, even left it for a day on the charger - nothing. It was like that for a few days and then it suddenly was ok again and worked ever since.

My Garmin is the Forerunner 405, we are talking about the same watch correct? Sorry not too technology savvy.....Flix123, I hope you are right and it will just take charge soon. I've become very dependent of my watch. Thanks

@ FlippyChick:

I suppose you managed to download a course via connect.garmin.com TO the 405?
If so on your 405 go to Menu/Training/Courses/ Select the Course you downloaded to your watch and then just select Do Course...

Thats it. You will notice some different screens than to the regular workout. Fun is the compass...

CAN'T turn on GPS. My 405 won't show any distance and when I try to turn on the satellites it just shows a compass thing. The watch sometimes briefly says "GPS OFF". How do I turn irt on?

Hey guys! Just got my 405 last week. Still trying to figure out how to bring my runs into runners+ but I'll get there. As far as the prices go, got mine out of ebay, brand new, with heart rate monitor for 295$US...Best price I found!
