Aloha everyone!

I am in an unusual spot in my training. First, a little backstory to help with any advice you may feel inclined to provide.

I have always been overweight, usually by a lot. However, I have very strong, and explosive muscles, suited to be a football player rather than a couch potato, although i prefer couch potatoeing to football!

due to my size, the only running that I could do was sprinting. Any type of jogging or recreational running usually left me with sore feet and shin pain. because of this, I didn't like running one bit and avoided it. One could say, i had a passion for not running. haha

Flash forward to the present. I have learned a lot about sport (indeed, the art) of running. I have learned why my feet would hurt (shoes were waaaaay too tight) and why i would feel shin pain (excessive weight compounded with **** shoe selection) and how to correct them.

So, here I am today. I have decided that running will be an integral ingredient in my health and fitness pursuit. But, I will never be a distance runner. (it is simply too boring for me).

So, here are my running goals. I want to keep my speed and explosiveness. I would like to be able to run a 6 minute mile. I would like to be able to also run 8-9 miles relatively comfortably. what kind of training program should i be trying to develop?

answer as if you were going to do the same thing yourself. what would you do?

Ambitious? yes. Realistic? in my world, definitely. difficult, unfortunately. LOL.

What i would like are your thoughts and opinions. i been browsing the forums for a little over a week now and i like what many have said and i would like to hear from you.

Can you help?

Thank you for taking your precious time to read and possibly reply.

Try that for a kick off.

Combine with a weight loss programme.

Difficult to know what to suggest without knowing your present form. Most people log their runs here and keep track of progress that way. Try it and see how you go.

Good luck

Brisk: not insanely fast, not really fast, but not slow either. Just at an intermediate speed
