Okay, so I realized after my last run that I think my little SportBand thingie may have fallen out of calibration somehow. So, today I mapped out a run to be sure I'd get 3.1 in so that I knew I'd be okay for Saturday and decided to run the full route back to my garage so that I could recalibrate the thing. It was 3.45mi and my SportBand originally tracked it at 3.91mi. I guess that means my per mile times weren't as good as I was hoping, but for right around 3.5 miles I'm happy! It was my middle section that sucked the most anyway cuz I threw in a hill that didn't like me much. Also, I was able to add on almost.7mi tonight to my run without dying so that's good!
Oh well, Saturday is my "practice" race anyway. I'm sure I'll go out guns blazing because of nerves and crap out toward the end anyway so my time might not be so great. But I'll have a whole month to improve! As is, it looks like I'll fall in toward the lower middle of the pack on Saturday in terms of finishing times based on last year's results anyway. Last year there were 760 finishers total (up from 500 ) so there should be around 1000 this year. I'm okay with finishing there I suppose. As much as I'd like to improve my time, the goal is to just finish w/out walking so I'll focus on that. :)
Oh, and the race I'm doing tomorrow is the BeaverDash (www.beaverdash.org).

YOU DID IT! Congratulations YR -- it took a little longer than you wanted, but you stuck with it and finished the program! I can almost guarantee that your race-day time will be better than you think. Just treat it like that first 20-minute run -- hold back a little bit the first half and don't let the adrenaline get the best of you, and then pour it on the second half! But most importantly have fun! Good luck!
